Yea Max does render better.. Define the materials..Well that a broad question..First you have to know how to use max. ANd there are so many plug in render models.. Then we can use so many different types of materials..My suggestion is to go do a tutorial online just do a search for a max rendering tutorial.

I used architectural mental ray materials that come with max 9 and of course mental ray renderer for the rendering. I guess that autodesk will put mental ray renderer instead of accurender in the upcoming versions of revit as they did with autocad.
