How did you do the fire to looks so real?

The fire is just a bunch of bitmaps thats are placed on glass in the fireplace. The bitmaps were self illuminated I think to .1 Then I modified a studio light's family and put a orange globe around the light source. I placed one globe in front of the fire and one behind so there were no shadows.
