I'm Greg from TKSC Engineering in Irvine California and I am a plumbing designer. TKSC is an HVAC and plumbing engineering firm who is just getting started with REVIT. I just wanted to introduce myself to the REVIT World. I look forward to learning from more experianced REVIT users and passing along what I have learned to future newbies as my knowledge level increases.

Thanks!

Hi Greg and welcome!  If you have any questions just let us know!  Everyone on here is very helpful and professional, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding help. Smile

Oh, and if you don't mind me asking... how much do your Revit drafters make an hour at your firm?  I'm just curious because I live in Northern Nevada and just wondering what the pay was like in California for Revit Drafters.

Thanks,

Dominic Licata

Hi Dominic,

Thanks for the reply. To answer your question I really don't know because I am one of the 8 designers picked in our office to learn REVIT. As a plumbing designer I make good money but am reluctant to state my income here incase someone else in my office sees this post. I can email that to you directly if you like. The others in my team are designers as well with the exception to the CAD dept. head. We have 35 people in out office but for now only 8 of us were picked to be on the REVIT team including me. I've only been working on REVIT for about a month now and am just starting to get the hang of it. As far as what a REVIT drafter would make I'm not really sure because our firm is so new to it. As far as out CAD drafters they get between $15.00 and $20.00 an hour depending experiance. I'm sure you could get much more as a REVIT drafter depending your experiance level and the disipline you work in. I know architectural firms that are deeper into REVIT than we are now pay top dollar but I couldn't tell you how much because I simply don't know, sorry. If you are looking to relocate to SoCal I could give you some names of firms using REVIT to check out. What disipline do you work in?

Right now I'm working for an architectural firm.  We work on residential projects as well as several other large scale projects and just recently switched to Revit but I'm the main Revit drafter and am teaching everyone else in the firm on how to use Revit.  I was just curious because my fiance has family down there but I'm not sure if I would be moving down there anytime soon because of the cost of school.

I also wanted to know because I'm not sure if I'm making enough... seeing as I'm the main Revit drafter and I'm teaching everyone/training everyone.

Thanks though!

I'll ask some of the REVIT architects what the range would be for someone with your experiance. I just got back from a meeting in Santa Monica at a big architictural firm that has a REVIT staff so I'll check it out and let you know.

Ok, thanks so much!  I've been using Revit for about a year now, I have my associates of arts in Architecture, and am a junior working towards my BFA.

Ok dude, I talked to one of the architects we do work with and he told me that REVIT drafters could be making between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour depending on experiance.
