I am trying to create a railing in Revit, ADA requires a 1' extension at the end of most railings..... our firm prefers to have the rounded "wrap around" extension(see image)..... i know i could just create a peice of mass using the create tool, but for cost estimate purposes.... we are trying to eliminate all generic models that serve basically no purpose in the cost estimate.... What is the correct way to have the end of the railing the way i want it when u can only edit a railing in plan view???

I read somewhere that you can make a custom baluster family that includes the extentions and then use it as the End post for the railing. I have not done this but it might be worth a try.

Thanks, i created a new balluster family and basically made it what ever shape i wanted and then went into the railing properties/ balluster placement and switched them out.

I'm doing the same thing. I made a baluster, and placed it in, but it doesn't want to go the right height. It gets bumped down the width of the railing at the top. I can offset the baluster up, say 1/4", but then it just goes up 1/4" above where i really want it. It seems like it should be at the right height of the rail if i set the top offset to 0, but no. why would it be moving it like that?

k, this is weird. It fixed when i set the regular offset to 6" (last field to the right), but it sticks out 6" to the right now. it's confilicting with the original railing, and i don't know how to fix it. I'm using Revit 2009 btw.

Make sure your model is locked to a reference plane. For tubular sweeps you must draw the sweep path on top of the reference plane first. FYI That ADA rail extension is available in the Revit Web Library.
