I am trying to load the revision tag and an error pops up and says " An incompatible version of family"revision tag" is already in use in this project. Can not load."

This is the first time I am seeing this. Does anyone know what to do????????????

Have you loaded the latest build that corrects the Y2K8 problems.  If not, change your month to February and see if you still have the issus.  If you do, it's the Y2K8 bug and you need to load the latest build.

This generally occurs if there is a tag or family with that name in use already. You may need to go through all of your families (I think that GuyR or somebody on AUGI made a utility for this) and see if that name is already used. Or an easier way to go about fixing the problem would be to rename the tag family that you are inserting and see if that fixes the problem.

Ive had this happen before. Normally it happens when I recreate a family and it use to be wall hosted but now its face hosted. Revit wont switch hosts but you can switch type.

Its juts like views. A family is a family is a family so if you name a door "bob" you cant name a window "bob", or even a tag "bob". You would think that Revit would read catagory and hosting but it doesnt....
