I've drawn a building we're remodelling and used phasing. I drew what's existing, applied the "existing" status, and applied demolished in new construction phase as necessary. I've just discovered there are more existing and to-be-demolished components that need to be drawn in, but it's a little frustrstrating. I can't find a way to draw something so it's not automatically new construction. It would be easiest to draw them in a view that displays existing and demolished, but then I can't see what I'm drawing. Does anyone know how to change what phase objects are drawn in?

You can go the the view properties and set the Phase filter to "Show Previous and Demo". This will show the existing and demo construction. To draw in a particular phase you will need to set the Phase in the View Properties. I would suggest setting up different views with different phase filters showing so you can easily switch between existing and new.

I'm aware of how to do that. What I'm looking for is a way to draw objects to various phases. I have my plans set up for demo and remodel with "previous and demo" and "previous and new" visible respectively. If I want to draw something that's existing, it won't show up in the demo plan because it defaults to "new construction." If I draw it in the remodel plan, then I don't know exactly where I'm drawing it in relation to the rest of the existing structure. If I draw it in a view with all visible, then it gets really cluttered. In all three cases, I have to select everything I just drew and change their attributes. Does that make more sense?

I understand now. What I did was to set up a view to represent my the model before any demo took place. To do that I had go to View Properties and set the Phase to "Existing" and the Phase filter to "Show All". This allowed all objects drawn in that view to default to Existing Phase.
