If you hold the tab key down you can tab thru your componets to get the roof. I think that should help with what you are trying to do. You could also use the filter command to filter thru selected items. With flat roofs yeah that's tricky. If you look in the family explorer you should find a skylight family already loaded. You can then change the family to meet the requirements for your project. Let me know if this helps.

You don't draw a flat roof by setting the slope of the line in the sketch to 0. Select the lines and make them all non-slope defining by unticking the slope defining check box.

Mr. Spot is right about that. You set all your lines to No Define Slope, that might be one of the problems you might be having with the selection of the roof. Try that out.

You can also select objects in a 3D view, elevation or secton then switch to a plan view to edit them. Tom

thanx.. i didnt realize u cld turn the slope off.. but i still have one problem.. i dont know if its the way im doing it or what.. but the way i make the 3d model is that i make the floor and roof 30cms below the floor level.. but when i do this it disappears from my plan and the only way i can select it is thru the 3d view, which can be abooying all the time... wat am i doing wrong?

That's because the view range stops at the floor level. If you change your view range(under view properties) to just below you will see your floor and be able to select it.
