Hi, I'm with an architectural firm in Long Beach, California and our firm is starting a revit user group in the Long Beach area.  We are inquiring to see if there are any interested firms within our area that would like to join our user group.  At the moment, we are working with an insturctor and students from Long Beach City College, since they have a class dedication to revit, and can potentially provide a class room for our use.  We would like to include individuals that are working with the program on the field as well.  If you are interested in joining our user group, please contact me.  My email is, wramos@simonglover.com

Thank you and look forward to hear from you

William

I applaud your efforts in trying to organize a local Revit user group.  Our Orlando Revit User Group has been an extremely useful resource since we started meeting a little over a year ago.  We recently tripled our attendance records because a few talented individuals stepped up and took the initiative to improve the organization.  I'd like to suggest that you coordinate with your local Revit software vendors and local AIA chapter to find out who is using Revit.  Network with these people to build the audience.  Someone has to take the lead and that may be you or a team you organize of like minded individuals.  Start there and feel free to ask more questions.  There are many helpful people here and over at the AUGI forums.  "If you build it, they will come..."

I believe that there is already a local user group for Orange County (as well as LA and the Inland Empire), I believe that they meet in Irvine on the 3rd Thursday of the month. This is done in cooperation with AutoDesk, US CAD and a few other resellers.

Let me know if you want more information and I can find out who the contact for the OC chapter is.

Thank you both for your replies.  And yes, I and a co-worker are trying to set this up ourselves, so we will see what happens.  And Nick, I would greatly appreciate it if you did provide me with the OC Chapter contact information.  If we're unable to recruit enough individuals for our group, we would like to join another.

 Thanks to both of you

William

This is from a fowarded email;

"The SCRUG (Orange County) meets next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the offices of LPA, Inc. The address is 5161 California Avenue, Irvine, CA. It's next to UC Irvine. I'll be sending out the formal invites this week.

I'm forwarding this message to Tom Weir, president of the L.A. user group, who will follow up with the time and location of the Wednesday meeting.

I hope you have a great visit!

BTW, do you have an outline or synopsis of the presentation that I can use when composing the invite?

Regards,

A. Jay Holland[ajayholland@ca.rr.com]"

You can contact Jay if you have any other questions, comments, etc.
