hi, i have a problem with my grids, my building has a undergroung car park with is on a different grid, (eg 6x6 and levels 0 to 4 are on 5x5), i places the grid in the basement car park, but the grid appears on all levels, so i hide the element on the other level, but now when i place another grid line on my ground floor it doesnt appear, and only appears on the basement floors, how do i get around the problem? thanks kunal

Sounds like you need to read up a little more on your datums (check this in the help files as there is some useful information there). Grids have a 3D and 2D extents. What you essentially need to do is set the 3D extents of you basement grids to only go as high as the next level and conversely with the grids for the rest of the building. You'll need to do this in an elevation or section. When you select any datum line (level, grid, reference plane...) the solid dot at its end point is its 2D extents, that only effects the view you are working in if you change it. The non-filled dot represents the 3D extents of the datum line. Occassionally (but not always) you will also get some blue text appear that says other 2D or 3D depending on what mode the datum is currently in. Click it to toggle between the two. By right clicking on a datum you can also do things like maximise its extents, drag extents etc... On the level directly above the basement you probably won't be able to avoid having both sets of grids display (unless you start using scope boxes, which may confuse you more) so its best to use your reveal hidden elements and right click "hide in view" function to get the appropriate grids to display. HTH.
