Is there a way to have a parameter in a family read if it gets flipped? I would like to be able to read out the hand of a cabinet (i.e.the cabinet is drawn with a right hand opening and the parameter would read 03, if flipped the parameter, or its output, would read 02). Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appriciated. Nick

I don't think there is a way to make this be automatic but you could set a simple y/n switch.

THats kind of what I thought. I am trying to put together a set of Fisher Hamilton cabinets that generate out the product number automatically without the chance for user error. I have everything else down but wanted to try to find a way to make the hand update aitomatically..... Oh well I guess it goes on the wish list. I'll also try asking Steve Stafford when he comes by at the end of the month....

I don't believe this is possible for the same reasons that you can't do it with doors... I would suggest not including a flip arrow in the family and creating a mirrored version that has the correct code already if you want to reduce user error. However, that still doesn't stop someone just mirror the family in the project.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. So I added the mirriored door to the family, but is there a way that you can tell if the family has been flipped? In CAD you can look at the properties and the X or Y axis will read -1, but I cant seem to find this in Revit. Is it there, if so where do I look? Thanks Nick

I've run into this problem to and I have not found a way to detect if the family has been flipped. I suppose you could create a text type of symbol using invisible lines that you could see is mirrored when you select the family. But otherwise, it won't show up. _______ | | |______| | \ | \ or something like that?
