I would like to have a keyboard shortcut for a few regularly used annotation symbols,  but I can't figure out how to type it in to the KeyboardShortcuts.txt file.  Is this possible and how?

Well, I assume you found the KeyboardShortcuts.txt file. All you have to do is open it up using notepad. It should contain a bunch of lines formated something like this:

;"" menu:"File-New-Project

All you need to do is find the function you are trying to create a shortcut for on the right side of the list, and then type the keystroke between the quotes, and then save. So if I wanted to make a shortcut for New Project be NP I would modify the line like this:

; "NP" menu:"File-New-Project"

Hope that helps!

Thanks, I knew how to ad the two letters to a shortcut, my question was is it possible to create a new type of command, like a specici symbol or component for a type command

I think you can only create shortcuts to the commands listed in the KeyboardShortcuts.txt file, but that would be a great feature.  Maybe someone else can prove me wrong!  Otherwise, that might be a good feature to request from autodesk.
