This could be a common question but does anyone else have serious issues when they edit a ceiling that has light fixtures already hosted to it?  Most of the time Revit trys to delete the hosted lights.  This has been a problem for us since Revit 8.1 and I'm wondering if its ever been addressed or anyone has any tricks that work all the time to resolve this problem.  It seems like hosted families in ceilings are just very unfriendly and it is such a headache because this usually happens near the end of a project when everything is set but then we realize that a ceiling has to be edited for whatever reason and then Revit wants to delete all instances of lights in the ceiling...any ideas?

Strange issue.  I haven't run into it.  Editing grid with lights attached hasn't caused any problems for me.  I wonder if it is related to the light fixture family.  Have you tried different light fixture families with the same result?

Using Revit Arch 2011, I am having this same problem. Happens with two different light families. I edit the corner shape of a ceiling, or move one boundary, and it wants to delete lights, or shift them all.Any solutions?

you could use face based components instead of ceiling based. When you make changes to the ceiling, the components may lose their association but not be deleted. Downside of this is that your lights wont shift with the grid pattern if you alter it and that is a pain!
