They show up in my ceiling plans. Have you got them turned off in VG?

Here is my understanding: Because model lines are 3D and are basically drawn on the surface of your current workplane, they have a vertical definition but no vertical "thickness" (like a plane would have). Moving their workplane up and down moves the lines up and down. I've had model lines running through a room in perspective at 3 feet off the floor and 30' above my building. Therefore, they should only be visible where they are (read "their workplane is" within the view range of the view.

thats weird that you need to draw your lines 3 or 4' above floor in order for them to show up? but that is whats happening! all my lines are @ 1st 2nd floor height and tey are not visible in CP no matter what I do to view range???

If the view ranges you are working with don't overlap (so that the lines only show in one view at a time) you can always throw your plan (with the lines drawn) into your RCP and use the pick-line to generate a second set of model lines that are associated with the originals and then turn your underlay off. It works unless you modify the original set by adding or deleting lines. You could make a group and place it on multiple views, but then you have to edit in group mode which has drawbacks. Or you could adjust just that area's view range with a plan region. Basically, it's a pick your poison.

This Thread was helpful in troubleshooting. Here is what I did to fix it:
1. [Set work plane]-by going to the blue icon in top right corner. Then change your view so that you can see the floor above the level you are working on. Then click the bottom part of the floor using the dialog box selecting pick host/work plane.
2. Now go back to ceiling view and you should be able to draw model lines on the ceiling.
This was essential as an aid in measuring and positioning ceiling light fixtures.
