The structural bracing members are not shown as being cut at 4'-0" above floor level on floor plans.  Instead they are shown full length as not being cut.  Is there any way to make them look right?

Try playing with your view range. It probably has to do with the view depth.

I dont quite have that part figured out yet. It seems like the view range reacts differently depending on the type of view. If anybody has a solid explination it would save me some time futzing with things until I get them to show up right. As it stands now I can normally get everything cut in the right place, it just takes time....

 HTH

I tried all possible ways: adjusting view range, plan region...etc.  One interesting thing is that if I create a 3D section view which cut the model at 4'-0" above the floor level and then orient the view to plan, it will show up right.  But unfortunately the view is a 3D, I cannot do dimensions, annotations, room tags etc.  I believe this is the nature of the structural element that can only be cut at its transverse direction on plan. If it is a diagonal brace, it needs to be cut at an angle and it fails to show up right.  Autodesk need to work on this.

Theres always the wish list. I actually have the same problem but hadnt gotten around to trying to fix it yet. If the bracing wont show up you can either overlay your 3d with the 2d that has the annotations (which will probably result in a horibly muddy print) or just draw in the lines as need be.

I got frustrated with a gable on a roof showing up a while back and just drew in the lines. It worked well until the roof shifted a few inches and then I had to realign the lines. I have tried aligning and locking them but found that this often ends up overconstraining the model...

as a suggestion, may be wrong, but what workplane is your brace using?  i have found structural elements will show in full, in plan, if the workplane matches a floor level below your cut plane.  i now 'attach' all structure to the nearest floor or ceiling line so this view issues resolves a bit better.

There is no way to make revit structural braces show correctly cut at 4'-0" on floor plans because the family is created on horizontal working plane.  Now I have the solution.  I created a vertical bracing family that show correctly cut at 4'-0" above floor level.  Anyone suffering from this problem can download it.  Search under my username.
