i need to create a room finish legend, and i'm a bit stuck, i'm afraid. i've been attempting to make it a schedule, but i don't want anything linked to the model. i really just need to make an excel spreadsheet, but i was hoping there would be a way to do something similar in revit...any ideas? should i just create a legend? thanks in advance!

I create my finish schedules in Revit....after all, that is the point of it, to minimize tedious work. However, if you insist on making it yourself , I would create a new drafting view. In this view you can do whatever you like (lines and text in your case). If you have a finish schedule from AutoCAD you can even import it and use it as you would AutoCAD. Cheers.

how do you create them if you dont mind me asking? im finding if i try to, many of the fields are not editable, or i have to go back through and apply the finishes to the families in the project...then everyhting shows up the same...and so on... i would really appreciate it, since that i what i am trying to do...i'm having a fine time with the schedule half, i'm just unclear on creating the legend it references. thanks! i have been using text and lines in drafting views previously, i just thought i would try and make it more efficient.

Sorry, i misread your post. I was thinking schedule, not legend. now let's see if I can help for real..... First, what are you trying to put in the legend? Hatches? Symbols with numbers? etc.

its going to have the materials we are using with manufacturers, colors, finishes, etc. There is nothing besides text, so a simple spreadsheet is all i want to create, just without having to import or export anything.

If you have no reference to any rooms, then the best bet is just text and lines like you are doing. Even if you do want to reference rooms, it is pretty tricky, as you would need to make a manufacturer field for each finish (floors, walls, ceilings). And then it gets really long. You could make a different schedule for each finish (floor, walls, ceiling), but you still have to add some parameters. Sorry, I know this is not much help....This might be a case for a key schedule, but I am not that up to snuff on them at the moment........maybe Mr. Spot will come and rescue me (and help you)......If I think of anything else, I will let you know. Cheers.
