So I have read through some tutorials and found that a storefront wall can be revised to have a double door. I looked through the door library provided by Revit and found the perfect double storefront doors, but I cannot place them into the Storefront Wall. I have never been able to place a door into a storefront wall unless the storefront is part of a different wall type. I want my wall to be completely glass. Is there a trick I can do to have a double door placed into the storefront wall that can be tagged so I can have it in my door schedule? Jonathan

First, let me access how far along you are. Do you have a panel that is the width of the double door or is there a mullion in the middle of were you want the door?

here is a tip from Tom Dorner One trick I have been using is to place regular door families into curtain walls. To do this, select the curtain panel and change it to a regular wall type. I usually make a dummy wall type the same thickness as my curtain panel thickness. Now that the curtain panel you have selected is a wall, you can simply insert a regular door family into it and it will schedule properly and can get placed onto a legend. The trick is to make sure that you use a door family with no trim and have the clear space between the mullions exactly the width and height of your door. When the door "cuts" your dummy wall, the dummy wall will completely disapear leaving just the door. I have attached a simple example to look at. here is the AUGi link: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=20647&highlight=curtain+door HTH

Go to your Revit Library (Or to the revit content distribution website if you dont have it) and load the 'Curtain Wall Dbl Glass' into your project. Select a mullion near the panel you want to replace on curtain wall you wish to place the door in, hit tab until the glazing panel you wish to replace highlights, in the upper right hand dialogue box, replace the glazing panel with 'Curtain Wall Dbl Glass'. The door size will change when/if you move the mullion grid line.

Yes you do. To do this, go to an elevation of the storefront, put your cursor on the vertical mullion that you want to go away, and keep tabbing till you've selected the vertical curtain wall grid line. When you've selected it, a button will appear on your toolbar that says "add/remove segments". Click on it and then click on the mullion that you want to disappear. Now you should have one large glass panel the width that you want your door. But maybe it's a few inches off? If that's the case you can fine tune the opening by once again selecting the vertical grid lines on either side of the panel, clicking on the little blue pin (this unpins the grid line) and then select the dimension that appears when the gridline is selected and change it to reflect exactly what you want the opening to be. OK.. now you have the glass panel that's the right size and we need to change it to the double door that you already found earlier. Select the big glass panel by tabbing through as usual. When you've selected it, unpin it (the little blue pin again) and now that it's unpinned you'll notice that your double door is available in your pull-down menu! (so exciting). But Wait! There's more! Now you have your double door but there is a mullion on the floor across the opening. This is great for tripping people but for some reason the builder and the code inforcement don't think it's funny. So let's get rid of it. Simply select it (actually, there are probably two of them) unpin and delete. At long last, you are done.....I hope.
