good morning all. i've read a few related posts, but still have a question on creating a compound slope for a roof. i have steel beams/joists which slope in 2 directions. imagine in plan, a rectangle with 3 points at HP steel, and the 4th point down about 2'. Essentially i havea bay of 54'-1" x about 91', with 1/4" slope per foot in the 91' direction. this gives a slope of about .41" per foot in the 54' direction. i've manually slped the main girts, but when i try to add joists, i did so as "beam system". this makes me pick a reference level. i used HP roof, but then i have to manually calculate the elevation aof each joist along the sloped beam. is there a way to create a warped plane? that would make it easy to resolve both structure and roof issues, if i could simply attach these to the warped plane. any help would be appreciated. to complicate issues, the one "long" bay along the building facade is not actually straight... see attached. the bay of roof area i'm talking about is above the long span joists only) in that view, the left hand bearing steel slopes down/away at 1/4" per foot. right hand steel along cutrain wall and left steel above straight clerestory glazing are all at HP steel)

Have you tried making your roof from a floor. Then you could edit the points you need in 2008 that is

Sorry, I do not offer a solution to your question. I do however find it amusing that a developed country like the US, still use the non sensical Imperial measures, when most of the enlightened world already saw the light some 120 years ago. To me, your question was like reading Mongolian :-) Meant as a stir, not to offend :-) I am sure Mongolian is a very nice language :-)

puzzle... how do you make a roof from a floor? would that enable one to edit elevation of just one corner? i also thought about making a compound mass, extruding from floor level, and then subtracting a void from that mass to give me a roof. that might work too. thanks for your input. erik. why waste everyone's time with that?
