To whomever reads this: Hello! I've looked and looked (and tried and tried) and haven't been able to add a text note to a detail component. The intent was to create a standard detail with notes and dimensions (all created in the family editor using the detail component template), so as to create a "full-blown" detail component that already has notes and dimensions and everything our office will need for this particular detail already on it, so I can just load it into a project, then just stick it on a sheet. However, I've had no success with the notes or dimensions. Anyone know what this is all about? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch! -Jason

I don't think you can add leader notes to a "Detail component". What you can do is draw the detail in a project and go to File-->Save to library-->Save View and save the view as an external file. You can then insert that view into other projects and the work as if you created the view in place. This seem to work very well for those details that you might don't want to create over and over. We use this method for all of our "Typical" details.

Gotcha. That would be just a good. As long as I can make a typical detail. Thanks for the fast response! Have a great holiday weekend! -Jason

Yes, you can add notes to a detail component. I did it on my current project. It took me a while to research it but I finally got it to work. You have to add the notes in the detail component family under the Type Comments-pick the componet, Edit (at top), you should be in detail component. Select Family (at left) and under the Type Comments place your callout. Now to make this work you have to use a callout tag in Revit-I've attached one for you. In your project, go to Setting, Annotations, Loaded tags, enter name of tag (attachment). To tag the component, use Drafting, Tag by Category and drag the mouse over the component. You may need to use the Tab key if there are many components near each other to pick the one that you want. The cool thing about this method is if you change the tag Revit will change every occurrence of it in your set. Hope this helps!

I AM ALSO HAVING AN ISSUE WITH TEXT NOTES IN A DETAIL- I TRIED THE ABOVE SUGGESTION, BUT IT EMITS MULTIPLE WARNINGS IN MY FILE. INTERESTING IS THE FACT THAT I CAN ADD TEXT NOTES THAT REFERENCE THE MODEL, BUT IT WILL NOT SHOW UP FOR DETAIL COMPONENTS. IT GIVES THE TYPICAL VISIBILITY GRAPHICS/PARAMETERS, BLAH BLAH VERBAGE TO ME. SO I AM STILL STUCK- ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? REVIT 2008
