Hi everybody, I need to create a symbol (block) of the standard "Spot Elevation" (Modify / Spot Dimension / Spot Elevation) that is 50% of the original size. I don't understand how this works because the symbol that is supose to be used by the program "Spot Elevation - Target Filled" only shows the "Filled" area of the Target. I created a copy of this file with a 50% reduction and loaded it in my file, but now I have a Standard sized Target with a 50% size filled area. Does anybody knowa how to reduce the Target itself (crosshair and circle)? Or how to create a new symbol with a diferent size? I will really apreciate your help.

Sorry, I just realize that I did one mistake (at least) while typing my post. I wrote: "Modify / Spot Dimension / Spot Elevation)" and should read: "Drafting / Spot Dimension / Spot Elevation)". I also noted that there is a number of people reading my post but not replies so far. Is this harder that I though? Or so easy that nobody wants to waiste their time?

You can make what ever spot elevation you need by going to File<New<Annotation Symbol<Spot Elevation.

OK. Here I am creating a new spot elev tag. I have the "label" grayed out for me. Otherwise I'm done. How/why is that curse thing grayed out ?!

that's because spot dimensions is the "skeleton in the closet" of revit no one talks about because there is no sensible way to use spot dimensions in revit. i was even beginning to like revit until i had to put annotations on elevations. very rigid and cumbersome - the only workaround is to draw short detail lines at the side of the building and put spot dimensions on them. why can't we move spot dimensions freely around? WHY?

Anybody find a way to get it to have text seperate than the dimension? I have been using them as levels for things like "B.O. WINDOW" that I dont want to create a level for, but the only way I found was to add an annotation the the spot elevation head family, but I have to create new types for 3 familes if I need to create a new text during a project. They have it so I can add all those nice things with dimensions....they should add this to the spots as well (in my oppinion).

Not sure what you are talking about. Spot elevations seem to work ok for me and no need to put in any lines. You just have to realize that these tools need model elements to read the spot elevation from. They even work on sections and elevations but they work best there at horzontal element edges or at intersections of elements.

I basicly use a spot elevation in section to mimic a level such as "B.O. OPENING" but I have to add a symbol seperate from the spot elevation to get the "B.O. OPENING" I would like if I could add this as part of the spot. I can add text infront to the spot and behind it, but I cant move the text sepearte to have the text above and the height below as a level would show. Also...a spot doesnt need a model element to go to, in section and elevation you can use a spot on a detail componant as well.
