Im relatively new to this package. Im trying to make a top window, in the family editor, which opens in the vertical plane. My problem is I need to be able to use the window height(Height of the Curtain wall panel) as a dimension in the family (Not a control but simply as a dimension)
Anyone know how I can do this - Im so frustrated.

I'd have to say that curtain wall panels are the fiddliest things to create in revit. There are no parameters in a curtain wall panel family for height and width as these are determined by instance according to the curtain wall, which differs from a normal window where the height and width are type based.
Reference planes and equalling dimensions or fixing dimensions are the only way to constrain curtain wall panels. So best bet would be to add a reference plane in elevation at the horizontal midpoint and dimension this with a string and equalise this then create reference planes off this plane to constrain frame width etc...
HTH.

Has anyone yet found a way around this?
I'm trying to nest a sunshade family in a curtain wall glazed panel family, so I can turn it on and off by type or instance. But since the glazed panel width is not exposed in the glazed panel family, I have to build my sunscreen in the glazed panel family instead of nesting it, which precludes turning it on and off.

I found a way on how I can control the width and height of my Screen that is replacing the Curtain Wall Glazed panel.
What needed to be done is create a Generic Model that resemble a screen and save it, but make sure that the the Parameter for Width and Height is set to an Instance Parameter.
Next, I go and create new family for Curtain Panel based on Revit Family Templates and load the Generic Model as a component nested in it. To make the Screen follow the Width and Height of panels, all I have to do is lock the width and height to the given refference lines. The Screen will just adjust it size to the Curtain Panel size.
With this, I am able to to control the Screenl visibility in case I just need to adjust the curtain grid. I can schedule the size correctly as well.
Hope this help.
