Greeting all,

I have been working on this issue for a bit now and need help please!!  I'm trying put together a wall based family for a electrical receptical where I have a face plate modeled out to see them on my interior elevations. Seem simple enouph until I want to do the following.  When I have Cabinets / Casework shown and the receptical is within the cabinet I want to see a dashed outline of the box so I know where it is within the cabinet and also as a visual check for the plans.  I was tracing out the outside of the receptical box with a hidden symbolic line, this didn't work.  I was hoping symbolic lines would ignore the actual model solids.  So I was thinking well I'll try and make a void extrusion running from the front of the box out to 2 ft and only visable in the front/back views.  This didn't work either since It not cutting thru the casework.  Anyone have a idea on how to do this with out manually drawing out linework on the elevation?

Thanks,

Mike

You can use the "Show Hidden Lines" tool to make the outlet appear under the cabinet. I am not sure how to do this by default in the family. The "Show Hidden Lines" tool is view specific. You will pick the cabinet first and then pick the outlet. This will make the outlet appear as hidden. Keep in mind that the hidden lines may not show dashed because of the small size of the object.
