Hi all; here's my issue: all my elevations are set as CD's; I'd like to turn on the shadows to give it little bit of depth but when Revit shades Elevs. it shades up to my footings so everything below the building comes out dark (shaded); I know you can set "shadow depth" in 3D views... what about Elevs;;;;long story short I'd like everything above ground to be shaded and everything below to be just lines... any tricks??

You could set the altitude at 1 degree which will minimize the effect, but not illiminate all the shadows.  This is done in the advanced model graphics menu which you can access where you turn your shadows off and on.

It is kind of time consuming depending on the complexity of your model, but you could add a topo where you want the shadow to stop, then make the basement walls transparent (overide graphics view by element).  You would then need to adjust your Far Clip Active and turn off stuff that is modelled in the basment (so you don;t see them through the transparent foundation walls).  If they are just frost walls, it should work fine.  I can;t find anything else that would control that.  That sounds like a good item for the wish list...unless someone else knows an easy way to do it.

Cheers.

You could just create 2 elevations one above ground with shoddows and the other below in hidden line. Not the most parametric answer but it works.
