Hello all,I am contacting many of the manufacturers involved with supplying a variety of components for different buildings to encourage them to consider supplying engineering and architectural firms with Revit families of all their products for free on their web sites. We all know that this would be a substantial help to many A/E firms right now. I believe I am prepared to offer them a very reasonable deal in producing these families. What would be very helpful is a few letters in pdf format from architects and engineers around the nation expressing the great help access to these Revit families would be. I would like to include a few such letters with my company literature. If anyone would be willing to supply me with a document of that type with their firm’s letter head, I believe it could contribute substantially in helping more quickly reduce the stress involved with Revit families. It is not my intention to exploit you and your firm for my own personal business gain. We all know full well that if parametric families were supplied by all MFGs it would be a huge time and money saver for engineers and architects.Matthew Brownwww.revit-lution.come-mail: studio@revit-lution.comphone: (850) 776-3527

I know Marvin is working on it right now (due out in a year or so, perhaps), and I have been prodding my Lightolier rep about it as well. I believe there will never be ALL manufacturers doing it, but slowly more and more will. Just tell them you are going to specify the products that have Revit families to use, and I bet they will speed up their process. Cheers.

Hey, I'd love to help manufacturer's get onboard to the Revit move. I currently instruct Revit courses at Dunwoody CoT (Minneapolis), but would love to fill some of my spare time with small "family" projects. Anybody have any thoughts on how to find manufacturer's that are looking for this service? That's really the question: how do manufacturer's connect with us Revit users, or even realize the need for their products in Revit? Hmmm.. Well, there probably is some way of connecting, and maybe I just don't know...

Mr Mier I know that Fisher Hamilton (lab casework and equipment) was looking into buying some revit families. I beleive that that ended up falling through but they are still interested if they can find someone else to do it for the right price (I dont know what that is). For the most part you could probably contact the company directly and see if they are interested.

Hello, Just a quick FYI. Loren Cook now has their products available online at http://lorencook.com/About/destools.shtml. There is a large selection of fans, blowers, lab exhausters to be picked from. I am also working on a application that will allow you to import all of your fans after they are selected in Cook's selection software. It will take some time, but should be a great addition to the project.

Considering the fact that Autodesk now pays manufacturers to create their own Revit families and in the future with the use of Autodesk Seek you will be able to download certified families. Also with MEP starting with Revit 2010 you'll be able to import Inventor files directly into the familiy editor. It'l happen, just not overnight
