Whenever I try to draw a line in my ceiling plan view it comes up with the error that the item drawn does not show up on this view. Instead it ends up in the floor plan. How do I draw annotation lines in the ceiling plan?

There are two types of lines in Revit: Model which are 3D and based on your current workplane and Detail which are 2D view specific lines. It sounds like you are using model lines since the appear on your floor plan view. Remember that all views are workplane based and by default your floor and ceiling views are based on the workplane of the level the view is based on. Therefore if you place a model line in the ceiling view in the 3D world it is based on the level the ceiling plan view uses and won't be visible since you are looking up in the ceiling plan where yu are looking down in the floor plan.Net result, if you want to annotate your ceiling plan view be sure to use Detail Lines which are found on the Drafting menu. If you are drawing "model" lines you will need to apply them to the surface of the item. For example you are drawings lines on a ceiling you can select the ceiling surface as the work plane. If you use "detail" lines they will show up without selecting a work plane. Detail lines only show in the view they are created in.

Thanks. Is there anyway to get dimensions or annotation objects to show up on multiple views? We typically show the grid dimensions on all of the plans. In cad we drew them on the Grid x-ref and then they were all in the same place; it just looks cleaner.

Dimensions and other annotations are view specific. The only exception to this are dependant views which may provide you what you are looking for. Otherwise, simply copy the annotaions to the clipboard CTRL+C and then use the Paste Aligned command to place them in another view.
