I defined a window family and defined grayshades as a surface property inorder to indicate three glass tyes. In the fmaily they look just fine when i do shaded view, but in the file they don't I chaged my material properties. Also some show shaded and some don't in the same elvation, same family. Any clue what could be happening I was quite excited to have achieved the family but for some reason it is lookign differnt in the file.

I recommend never assigning materials in the family, create the geometry assign each piece either a subcategory or material parameter, then in the project select the materials you want.
