I have structural gridlines in my project that are numbered "A" through "M" in sequence. I recently added another gridline in front of the "A" which revit automatically numbered "8". Is there a way to change the "8" to an "A" and have all of the gridlines update to number sequentially "A" through "N"?

Oh well its not a big issue, you can just double click on the grid no. & rename it by the desired alphabet or number of your own choice Regards, Chirag C. Pawar Cad Solution Application Engineer

REVIT numbers gridlines in sequence from the last number. Once you change the last number used, REVIT will continue from that number. To renumber gridlines is kind of a pain since no two gridlines can have the same number. Same as views on a sheet. If you need to add a gridline (or view) in the middle, your solution is to eaither start over (not good for gridlines but not bad for sheet views)... or renumber from the last going backwards.

As far as I know there is no way of automatically renumbering grids. Fortunately manually renumbering is not hard.

In some cases, you can use a point and a number, i.e. A.1, B.1; or the double letter sistem AA, BB, etc. Unless you really have to be very specific re: axis # then you have to redo them. You can use the array command if your grid spacing permits. They number sequentially and you can always position then accdly.

if there are a lot of grid lines this is what i find best, from a project i was working on where due to agreed numbering with engineer i had renumber about 500 grids (i would of prefered to just make new grid 7.5 or similar) anyway. create a new line called gr-line then under view properties turn everything off except grid nad gr-line then with line tool select all the grids then select all the grids and delete them. you are left with just your gr-line's then with the grid tool select the lines renumber the first one then the rest will all be correct. its easiest way i know
