Is there a way to specify a wall type that would show a standard masonry cross hatch when cut, with an additional solid grey hatch over/under the cross hatch? This would allow differentiation of say a typical 8"x16" CMU wall and a 8"x8" wall in plan.

I still have no idea if this is possible or how to achieve it. I have the same problem in elevation views, where I have split-face CMU and regular CMU on the same wall. I would like to be able to differentiate the two with an additional hatch OVER one of the CMU hatches. Any help?

When we have a situation where layering two hatches is necessary, we make a separate, single hatch that combines the two we want layered. For instance, we have a fire-rating hatch with a CMU crosshatch in the background...you could do a CMU hatch with a grey background and use it separately from the plain CMU crosshatch.
