Open both files in the same revit session. In the project you wish to copy the information to, goto File-->Transfer Project Standards... Then select the elements you wish to copy across.

I'm returning to the architecture and building industry (after 2 decades' absence) as a mature-age Diploma of Building Design student. I've certainly got my work cut out for me in swapping to Revit. My experience was early days using AutoCAD R9/10, after YEARS of manual drafting work.At least I've remained software-competent, so I hope to have the basics of Revit under control in a few weeks or so.Since this thread was done 11 years ago there have been huge changes in the Revit interface. However, after I came across it in a Google search, it did help me find the updated solution for Revit 2017.In case anyone else needs it, look under the Ribbon tab > Manage > Transfer Project Standards. Uncheck all except Wall Types and Bob's your uncle. Thanks for being a Revit resource online.
