Forgive me if this has been answered already. When i detail a wall with compenents and masking and what-not..and then i move the wall, say a foot, why doesn't the detail components follow? is there a way to pin them to their position, so if th walls fudge by 1" to 3" the details stay put. Please help.

Align ... then lock it.  If you group first, they should all move with the single lock.

i understand the pin comman, but if i have a generic stl stud wall with brick and then i flip to my section, add a callout, place 6" insulation in the view and other misc. details. If i move that wall..say 6" to the north, my insulation, and details are now 6" from my wall. Pinning them only works in the view. Perhaps i'm being too picky, and maybe i want there to be a "Pin to the Host" or a "Pin to Wall" command. Something of that sort. Does that make sense?

I didn't say anything about pin.  ALIGN and switch the lock!  Look between the demolish and split tools.  If you would pace all your detail items on your view - then group them - move them all as a group to one side - then use the align tool with the appropriate parralel faces - you will see them all move where you want them and your lock will appear - lock it!

Thank you for your help. FYI, there is no lock button between the Demolish and Align button in RAC 2008. That threw me for a loop, but after creating the group and then aligning it, it worked fine. Thanks again.

He said "look" between the Demolish and Split...not "lock". The locking comes as a part of the align command which is, as WWHub said, between the Split and Demolish.

I AM wondering why somethings require a lock and sometimes, simply aligning and not understanding the difference between look and lock is sufficient? ...kind of like the pick-line tool sometimes maintains the relationship and sometimes doesn't.

Thanks WWHub and Bauhaus1919. Please pardon my ignorance on this issue. There are many parts of the interface that i'm not fully aware of yet, and i have still yet to grasp the options that are presented to you while creating the active object.
