Has anyone converted the City of Chicago Code matrix to Revit, or is it more standard to keep in regular cad and link the file?

The Chicago Code Matrix is most easily edited as an excel file. Editing this Matrix in autocad or revit as text is a nightmare. Since Revit hates Excel I have developed a workaround:
1. Create and edit the matrix in Excel.
2. Convert the excel file into Autocad - CorelDraw and I believe Photoshop have many odd file conversion options and for Corel Draw excel to dwg is an option.
3. Clean up the Autocad file. Lines are lines and text is text. It is readable and editable but the column spacing gets messed up.
4. Viola. Import Autocad into revit.
5. Or skip the Revit nonsense entirely and simply have an autocad sheet wtihin your Revit construction drawings.
