Is there anyway to render elevations and/or plans?
and
what is the best way to export elevations and plans, rendered or unrendered

You cannot render a plan or elevation as such...
You can however create a 3D view, use view-->Orient-->To other view, then select the plan or elevation you wish to render. This will automatically create scope boxes to the extents of your view.
Now its just a matter of doing a raytrace...
Then use the export image to save the file out. A common technique is to then load it back in and place on a sheet then place the floor plan or elevation over the top to get the linework and notes to show. You will need to adjust the size of the image to match the plan/elevation by eye.
