The host wall in the family editor is editible to be any width you want it to be. I recommend duplicating it and making may different widths and then changing out the host wall type in the family editor to see how your family reacts to the change. To edit the wall simply select it and go to its properties just like a wall in a project. For the opening, you have to use the tools that are availble in the editor. You can use the 'opening' tool or you can have a void that cuts the wall. You can only have one style of opening though and in your case it sounds like the void would be the best option since you want an opening that is a different size exterior vs interior.HTH
