I've been trying to create a sweep using a C-Channel profile. When I go to load the profile I want (Imperial Library/Profiles/Structural/?) all that is available is "Slab Edge-Metal Angle", "Slab Edge- Thickened", and "Wide Flange- Profile". There is no C-Channel profiles to choose from? I tried using a C-Channel from the detailed component family, but since it's not techically in the "profile family"; it didn't work for the sweep. There's got to be an easier way than drawing a C-Channel profile from scratch...can anybody help...so frustrating? Thanks...

Hi, you have to know that a profile and a detail profile are different families: they're 2D drawings but their purposes are different. You need a C-Channel profile to do things like a sweep, extrusion, extrusion long a path...so look for your C profile in the profile directory, and if you re not able to find it or if doesn't fit your ideas, draw it yourself from a new family>profile;save it and then appload it into the project and change the properties of the sweep selecting the profile you drawn. Hope this help you a little bit. -Paolo

...thanks Paolo I just ended up drawing a profile like you described. I just find it odd that Revit has standard Wide Flange profile available in the profile library but not Channels, Angles, Tees, etc....are these profiles available for download somewhere?

Hi, well actually I don't mind any better place then Revitcity.com to find what you need, and if you drawn a new item, that you think could be useful for other member of the community please share it, it's free but useful you will find many objects for free here, very kind people who ask for some help and a lot of interesting stuff about Revit. So you're welcome to the community, feel free to upload your content, see you soon. -paolo
