I want to use the objects and textures from accustudio and i downloaded the accustudio desktop.  Where i need help is how to make revit recognize that i have this program -> making the downloadable furniture, etc, usable.  im not sure if i downloaded the correct materials library or if i just unzipped the file to the wrong location.  anyone have a step by step?  thanks for your patience

as a continuation to my previous post, i am using Revit Architecture 2008, if that changes any set up processes or if accustudio is even compatible.

you must download accustudio librarys and pgp and unzzip in the same place where you get your revit librarys, put them in "C:\Documents and Settings\all users\application data\autodesk\rac 2008\rendering\AccuRenderRedist\support", this is where i get my librarys and i have RAC 2008, it's works. no problem.

Anything else...

 good luck!

i forgot to tell you, in revit go to "SETTINGS-OPTIONS-RENDERING" and add in "additional rendering material directories" the same path i tell you before, then revit it's recognize them...

i can see the files i unzip in the revit load-components dialogue box but when i click on them they say that all of my accurender files are corrupted or installed incorrectly.  so do i need to download something to read the files, something like a driver, but in an applet format?

what i did was go to the site and download the Accustudio desktop applet.  then i downloaded individual pieces of furniture and then pathed them into revit like you Cryingtyphoon) said.  but then i cant open them into my drawing. do the files have to be in .rfa format because the default revit library is in that format and i cant view the accustudio files unless i use the dropdown arrow and select "all files"

i have a library downloaded and i unzipped it into the folder you told me to but the instructions in that say to extract a file into somewhere... other than the initial unzip, there are no other files that could be extracted.  its all just notepad files.  so maybe thats the problem

the objects in accustudio there aren't in ".RFA" format, they are in "DWG" format, you can't open this files with revit but you can insert them in your project,

go to "FILE-IMPORT/LINK-CAD FORMATS". most of these objects are create in AUTOCAD INVENTOR, OR AUTOCAD MECHANICAL, ETC.

If you don't like the materials of object(s) you have two choise: 1- you can open the file in autocad and then you can change them or 2- when you insert the objects go (in revit), SETTINGS-MATERIALS and if you look the are new materials corresponding to the obj. you just did insert. The ".MLIB" files in accustudio put them in the path i told you before.

the notepads you talk, are information about the obj. (author, date of creation, Material Libraries Require, etc) there is no problem with them, it's just information.

i'm a portuguese, so, if my english is not correct or you have a dificult to understand me, sorry...

I hope this resolve your problem.

If you want talk to me my email is "thyphoon38@gmail.com", ok?

good luck

Ok JLINK, when you import the object and you go to see them in 3D you are in "Wireframe" mode or "Shading with edges"? because if when you are in revit, in 3D and in wireframe mode it's logic the objects appears in that way! but if you render the obj. and in final render missing textures in that obj. is because you don't have the right librarys install, so you must do what i tell you before: you must download accustudio librarys and pgp and unzzip in the same place where you get your revit librarys, put them in "C:\Documents and Settings\all users\application data\autodesk\rac 2008\rendering\AccuRenderRedist\support", this is where i get my librarys and i have RAC 2008 - i attach the librarys (*.MLIB) ok? put them in the path before..., if the problem persist tell me what is the obj. from accustudio it's giving problems, in revit don't make the "Full explode or Partial explode", the obj disapear ok? if you could take a photo from your monitor with the obj. i see what a hell is goings-on.

that notepads you told me before, usualy have the name of the library the obj use in renders, so, you must read them before and go to accustudio and download them ok?

 tell me something before ok?

Bye
