I received this message when I attempted to open a revit file: "Element 1168859 became corrupt at some time before this session. To continue with this project, save a recover file." How do I save a recovery file?

Unfortunately, some times when this error comes up, you can´t. Maybe it´s better to find the cause of this. I have an idea on my blog, http://revitips.blogspot.com Hope this helps

Thats true. I think that the the solution is to open the file using the Audit button, and erase the hatch on de CAD file.
