Revit Architecture 2008 Does anyone know if masking regions can be used to obscure only certain model elements and not others? I'm trying to wipeout the topography below balcony areas b/c it shows thru the balcony floor; using a plan region and adjusting the view range doesn't seem to work. Any help is appreciated!!:-) Tks.

(I forgot to include something and the edit post option didn't update) I wish to wipeout the section of topography, but not the balcony door & swing. Tks.

My suggestion is not the best idea, but it will work in a pinch. I would re draw the door with detail lines and set the lines to be above the masking region. You might even be able to lock the detail lines to the door so that they will adjust when the door changes. Other than that, i really don't know how to control masking region relative to model elements.

If I understand your post. Your view is cut somewhere above your balcony and for some reason, you did not do your balcony as a floor. I would suggest that you do your balcony as a floor so it will hide your contours.

Tks for the replies...Hence, the workaround suggestion will save time and allow me to meet the deadline. I'd still like to try and solve the problem for future; so WWHub, I did do the balcony as a floor, it is the same component as the interior floor. This issue seems to be a glitch w/Revit b/c the roof and upper level plan views show correctly (ie. the balcony floor obscures the topography; but for some reason, the lower level will not do likewise, eventhough the view range seems to be set correctly (primary range: top - 8' above assoc. lvl, cut plane - 4' above assoc. lvl, bottom - exactly at assoc. lvl; & view depth: unlimited) I've had this problem with site plans showing thru the roof to the inside of the bldg eventhough the view range clearly sets the cut plane above the roof.....maybe, workaround is the only way.

Change your view range bottom (" bottom - exactly at assoc. lv" to a lower point. REVIT has trouble sometimes when the entire component is not in the view limits.
