I have a window that I am using in my project it is the same window throughout... however there are different configurations needed for the sill and lintel on the same window.  Is there a way to create a window family that allows for a interchangeable sill and lintel options?  (ie) sometimes i want a lintel, sometimes i don't... but it is the same window.  Help please!

Your best bet is to set up "Yes/No" Parameters to control each type of situation. I Created a window family that had shutters that I could turn on or off. It worked great!

To set up the Yes/No Parameters you need to open the window family. Select the Lintel or the Sill and go to Properties. in the properties box you will see a line that says "Visible" (not to be confused with "Visibility and Graphics"Winking. Click the tiny button at the very end of the line and you will get the Add Parameter Box. Add your parameter and click OK.

When the paramater is added you can apply that parameter to any object in the family and will be able to control the visibility of those objects once you load the family into a project.
