Hi, We'll be starting a new project soon and will be using Revit Structure, Architecture and MEP. What are your thoughts on Save to Central or Links? I am thinking of Links so that I can unload the services and architects data when I don't need it. Phil.

so let me tell you what ive found, ive worked on projects with both, they both have good and bad points. i would rather work with a central file anyday though. when you link files its a real pain to get what you need to show up, also for the mep side of things you cant place wall based anything (ie. receptacles, devices) this is due to the fact that there are no actual walls, now you can copy them but once the arch model is updated . . . screwed. now enough complaining about the linking of revit models, i shall complain about central files, they are good if your working with people that are on the same page as you; however, if you get a 'genius' that decides hes going to do what he likes well then you might have a problem losing work and alot more (ie. your mind). no worries though i have gotten in the habit of backing up my work at the end of the day. to me the theories behind both linking and file sharing are great but implementation can be a little difficult. Ian
