How do I reset the door tag numbers to either zero or how would I input my own format? I am sure it is a very dumb question but I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help.

There are a few ways to do this that I know of but if anyone has another suggestion...by all means please reply as I am still new to REVIT myself. If you have a large number of doors that require re-numbering, I would schedule them and then change them in the schedule. If you don't have too many to change, you must double click each door tag and change it's number or format there. Remeber too that you can also create your own door tag too. This was one of my first questions with Revit when I started but since I haven't found an easy answer, I end up not tagging the doors when I place them (uncheck the box upon installing them), then I number them once the plan is pretty much done and I know that there will be minimal changes to it. HTH...

I am having the same problem, my door tags come in as 102-A, 102-B ect... to the point that I am now up do 102-JJ when it tags the door! I had the same question on room tags. With the first room I put in, the numbering started out at 106. Is there not a way to reset the numbering on both the door and room tags? ALSO...while I have you on the line... is there a way for the door tag to recognize the room number? TIA as usual

Ooops... sorry, I did a bit more searching and found this answer... http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=2285 But the question about resetting the room tag numbers so I can start them where I want still stands. (at least till I search further and possibly find the answer) Thanks

To reset the room numbers - just change a room number and as you place more they will follow that order. Example: the first room you placed was numbered 106. Before adding any other rooms, change that number to 100. The next room you place will be 101, then 102, etc. In a perfect world, all of the rooms and doors in a project would be placed in the order in which they should be numbered, but in reality it's rare that this happens. I just renumber them when I get to the point that it's needed.

Nope, tried that, renumbered the first one to 101 but it still continued numbering from 106 with the placement of the next room.

If you want your door tags to look different than the style you have now (eg. 102 A to 102 EEEEE) you need to change the tag itself with the family editor. Try it without the space bewteen the number and letters and see if this corrects the problem. However, I think you may have added text "102" to your tag family instead of a lable called "Mark" since this is not an increasing variable. Start a new tag if you need to using the generic annotation door tag in the Revit library then modify it if you still want the letters, etc. This is of course if you're not using the existing basic door tag that revit defaults to. Otherwise, if you change the "102 EEEEE" to "103A" by double clicking the tag, the next door you install should be labled "103B". HTH
