Is it possible to take hatches from a sample CAD file to put into the REVIT model? In general ,REVIT fill patterns are pretty much no fun.

Have a look at the tutorial: "Creating and Applying Fill Patterns" in revit 2008. You can import an Autocad .pat file into Revit. I do not know if you can export a hatch pattern from an Autocad Drawing though. I think you need the original .pat files. There are a few fill patterns on this website.

revit uses any .pat file you have, open the revit.pat file and read its instructions. Basically there is a small line of code you add to a pattern to specify it as a model pattern. Here is my .pat file for you to start with.
