OK, ADT can do this, but for the life of me I can not figure out how to get REVIT to do so! When placing a door or window I would like it to place the item at the midpoint of the wall without having to go and edit the dimension afterwards! Am I missing something here or am I just spoiled by ADT???

Try using the snap quickkeys "S" + "_". For midpoint, you would type "SM" then insert a window in the wall. Hope that helps.
Also, sometimes you have to zoom in to see snapping indicators
