v. 9.0

How do I use a yes/no parameter.  Its one parameter I haven't figured out yet.  Can I switch on and off objects/lines in a family by creating a yes/no parameter?  If so how do I do that.

 Thanks

The answer to your question is "YES". The yes/no parameter is an "ON/OFF" parameter. It can be "Type" or "Instance".

To use this parameter you will need to select the item you want to toggle and click Properties. In the properties you will see a line Labeled "Visibile" (not to be confused with the Visibility Button). Click the tiny button to the far right of the line. This will allow you to add and apply the parameter to the selected item. Once you have applied it you will see your parameter line in the "Family Types" that has a checkmark box. This will toggle the items visibility. By the way, You will not see the effects of this parameter untill you load it into a project.

Thanks a lot.

I figured it was something simple, but I just couldn't nail it down, works great, I appreciate it.

I made a yes/no parameter for text on a titleblock.  Works fine however I want to change the name of the parameter and can't seem to see how to do it.  I tried right clicking on the parameter in the Associate Family Parameter dialog box but nothing happens.  Is it even possible to change the name?

You can change the name by going into the 'family types...' dialogue box on the design bar, and clicking 'modify' under the parameters headline on the right side.

Evidently you can't do this with Images?

Control Image visibility?  Not like most objects, as far as I can tell.

However, you can create an opaque filled region to mask out the image, and put a visibility parameter on that.
