does anyone have any ideas why my surface pattern wont align between the first and second floor walls?

What do you mean by "Align"? If you are referring to your pattern not lining up with edges, you can use the Align tool and select the edge you want to align to.

i mean my vertical siding doesnt align between the first and second floor walls (it's staggered where the level changes).
