Probably more of a request than anything, but has anyone else been in a situation in Revit where the phasing functions are just not broad enough to cover a given situation? A renovation/addition job I am currently working on requires wall skins (components) to be both removed and added. The internal lining is to be removed so that insulation can be added, then replaced with new plasterboard, and a layer of renderable polystyrene paneling is to be added to the outside face of the existing outer walls. I guess I really need the phasing function to allow an extra feature to assign a wall skin as existing, new or to be demolished, something you could set when editing the wall structure. The final finished walls really need to behave as single entities that new windows and doors etc. can be placed into as you would normally. I guess the same could be said for roofs, floors etc. as well. Sustainable, energy efficient renovations are starting to really take off as public awareness of the advantages increases. I haven't seen any of the BIM packages really address this without employing pointless workarounds which end up taking as much time and effort as 2D. Any thoughts ??

I would post this under the Wishlist and maybe the people at AutoDesk will see it and come up with a solution in later versions.
