Hey guys, I am in need of some of your expertise. I am a student on a summer placement at a local company called Greenspace Research. I am working with the team trying to make a product that makes it easier for architects, etc make environmental decisions on their buildings while they are still working at the design stage. For nearly 2 weeks I’ve been trying to get this care home to work properly when it’s exported as a gbxml file. I think the problem lies with the Revit model that we were given in the first place, so I’ve been landed with fixing it!So here comes the barrage of questions… How would you suggest to make this roof structure fit together properly? As it is, the longer roof has a different slope length on either side of the shorter, joining wall. I have tried to make one roof instead of the 3 roofs as it is now, but it Cannot create roof so I’m not sure of the best plan of action As I said it is 3 separate roofs at the moment, and I am having problems attaching the internal walls to it so that I can fully enclose all the room spaces. A wall runs from side to side of this wing of the building, and so it needs to be attached to the 3 different bits of roof, but it comes back with an error(see the attached file below). One last question…anyone know about the room tags…? I have tagged the rooms, and I viewed a cross section and could see the tagged area…that I assume indicates the room. However the shaded area extended above the roof…is this ok…? Will it make any differences? Anyone make heads or tails of that? I've exhaused my ideas pretty much so anything would be a help

I can help you out there. You can do one of two things. You can copy and paste that roof or part of that roof there to another default file and post it (or email it to me)and I can tweak it around for you. Then you could reverse engineer the roof to see what I did to help you out more on roofs and the concept behind it. Or you can try to fix it from my explanation. That middle part there I would create as one roof using slope arrows or cut from plan view. The other one that you are having trouble with, the bigger one in back, I would create a decently sized large one that covers that whole wing. Where the roof edge is different, you would need two lines that outline your roof, but have the lower one as your defining roof edge. Or you can also use cut in plan view also on the main roof. A few different ways you cando it.

Thanks so much for your help. its much appreciated. Here's (hopefully) the roof in revit. How do I go about reverse engeneering it? it this some sort of Revit feature (I've not really delved into Revit very far, I've just been makeing relatively simple models with it.)?
