Revit Architecture 2008. Hi, I have a problem in when trying to trace a dwg import to create a hatched area. I have imported our company logo for to put onto our title sheet. When i go to trace the boundary of the logo to create a hatched area I get the problem of 'Element is too small on screen' the line i am trying to pick/trace is 0.5mm long. Is there any way to fix this. I can't increase the size of the logo as it is fixed to the size of the title & I can't scale it up or down...... any ideas?

When you get this error just zoom in closer and then draw the line again. That said I don't believe you can have a line segment shorter that 0.8mm in revit...

Thanks for your reply. Yeah thats my problem. the line is only 0.5mm long. It a segment of a dwg rastered image gile of a logo..... I can scale it up in acad to be bigger than 0.5mm, trouble is ist too big for the title block then. Any other ideas how I can trace around it in revit?

Create an JPG of it and place that in the titleblock instead. Just keep the image file size below 100KB.

WTF!!! Line is too short. This is a garbage - you can draw any line of any length in CAD - they couldnt translate that into Revit? I am drawing details and creating detail components from window manufacturers drawings. In order to complete a filled region, I need all the lines - even the 7/256" to connect.Anyone got any brilliant workarounds for this obvious fault in the program??

Since nothing in our buildings work to micro-tolerences, you really don't need those lines and I don't mind that REVIT doesn't deal with them. I hate a lot of these manufacturer drawings because they have exploded hatches or polyline segments. I blow all of those away just connect my last two straight line segments or if it really was an arc but CAD chose to show it as straight line segments, I use a real arc. Most of the time, I like to clean these up in autocad first and put all of my linework on layer 0. Then when I import the detail, explode it and then delete linetype 0, all of the lines become thin lines.

Thanks. Yes I too hate mftr details as they are way too much sometimes. But we are in a crunch and something already drawn is better than nothing. It is just annoying and i needed to vent my frustration while seeking out expert advice such as yours. A martini lunch and a signed permit set will make it all better. Thank you once again for your repsonse and ideas it all helps particularly on our first Revit project.
