I want to apply a profile to a sweep path but can only do it in a straight horizontal path. Is there any way to draw a path that changes elevation and then apply a sweep profile to it? Thanks

You should be able to acheive this by creating an in-place family. Go to the Modeling Tab and click the Create button at the bottom. You can then do a solid sweep and define the path.

If you are using Host Wall Sweep, then you can do either Horizontal or Vertical. I'm assuming that you mean you want the sweep to move up or down at an angle (as opposed to a sudden jump in elevation). If this is the case, you will want to make an in place family and use the solid sweep function. This will allow you to draw the path in any directio you want so long as the profile doesn't compress or expand too much along the path (it will give you an error if this is the case). Hope this helps. If not, give more specifics about what you're trying to do and we'll go from there. Good luck!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

What I am trying to achieve is creating a run of cable tray that changes elevations to miss ductwork, piping, etc. I need it to gradually change using an angle from one elevation to the next. I created a profile of the tray, and know how to apply it to a path. My hang up is that I do not know how to draw a line/path that changes elevation when I reach a conflict.

I haven't used Revit MEP before, but its my understanding that it has point edit tool for items like ductwork etc where you simply get spline like nodes which you can drag appropriately. Refer to AUGI forums I'm sure there will be someone there who has experience with MEP who can give you better instructions. HTH.
