I'm starting a new shell & core job.  I've created families of AHU's, but when I connect duct to them & begin to layout ductwork, I get the following error...

"The solution is failing due to either that no default fitting type is set or the default fitting is not found."

How do I bring in default fittings to a new job?  This is something I assumed Revit MEP would have built in.  Any thoughts?  Please share!

We just had the same issue.

The default settings for fittings is accessed under the project browser for the duct/pipe family. Select the duct/pipe type and go to Properties. From there, you specify what fittings are used by default. If you get that error message, it's probably bc the fitting type says "None." You need to load those families, first, and then access Properties and select the Default fitting. After that, you shouldn't have any problems creating automatic fittings. \

I'm not exactly sure what the cause of this is. Hope that helps.

Some of the templates do not have any fittings preloaded...for example, the default.rte template does not.

If you start a projects using that template you will get this error msg.

A quick and easy way to fix this is to use the Transfer Project Setting command and check the boxes for the categories that pertain to duct work.

You can start a new project and specify the mechanical or systems template...I know they have the fittings.
