ADT automatically displays the ouline of the roof over the floor plan in 'top' view, does any one know how to display a dashed outline of the roof in plan view in Revit? (not including fascias or gutters etc)

In the floor plan, underlay the level that the roof is on.
You should see the roof now in a light grey line. Now use the linework tool, set it to dashed or overhead, then click on each of the edges you wish to show on the floor plan. To select all at once hover over the edge and click tab...
You can now turn the underlay off and the linework remains. Its also linked with the roof so if your roof changes so will the linework (to an extent, depends how drastically you change the roof).
HTH.

This is a particularly good opportunity to overlay plan views on sheets. Make a copy of a roof plan view and turn off everthing but the roof. Then over-ride the line work for the roof object so it is using a dashed pattern (whatever you want really). Then drag this view over the floor plan on a sheet. It will snap into alignment over the floor plan as long as they are the same scale. Now any changes you make to your roof or additions you make will automatically show accordingly.

I have been using this technique and find its an easy way to show the roof above. I am having a problem with the roof disappearing in plan (parts of it) usually I can go into the hidden view and unhide it for that piece. Not so this time it seams that the roof is in all my views and some of it in my plan, but part of it is missing. Its not showing up in the underlay either so, does anyone know what I did to screw it up? and how to fix it?
