I got an issue with my walls... my second floor is located in the attic and therefore most of the walls are various height. to make my life eisier I set up all of the walls to 4' and my cut plane to 3' so the view still cuts them... the thing is that unless the wall is above 6' tall the view wont show individual componenet & hatch the inner core (instead it looks like in course view: outline and blank inside) i was thinking it might be view rande issue but i played w/ it left and right and nothing? is it the wall itself? it works fine on the first floor but there it goes all the way up to the ceiling 8'...

Check the following: - scale of the drawing influances cut pattrens they do not show if the scale is 2 small
- visibility settings
- material settings
- cut patterns setting
- it could also be affected by imports if you have any
- check your view range again, its easy to have it set up wrong
You will have to play around to get the pattern to show!

Walls with an unconnected height unless than approximately 1800mm (would have to check the number) high will not show cut even if they are being cut by the cut plane. The solution being to make them reference a level with an offset, even if its the same as the base level.. IE: Start = Level 1 Offset 0 End = Level 1 Offset 1500 This would correctly show cut. HTH.

I think Chris is onto something 'cause i was lowering wall [just to see whats up] from 8' to 4' every 6" and it stopped hatching below 6'... it sucks if thats the case, [you would think that as long as the cut-plane is cutting object it would show hatch...?] I'll play w/ offsets... if it wont work ...I'll B BAAK... ps. I'm on 9.1...

Hi LUCAS1979 You can use plan region to set the cut plane at different areas on plan, it should also work for your walls! I have used it and it works great! I have applied your wall settings and changed my view range and it seems to work fine in my project? Maybe i'am just doing it right?

" why would that be Mr. Spot ? It doesnt make sense to me that it would not cut the wall? Which Revit version are you using LUCAS1979?? " I assume so in plan its easily evident that these walls are not full height... Personally I don't see what the big deal is. Its no harder to use a level offset instead of an unconnected height? I didn't design the product I just use it. I agree if its cut by the cut plane it should show cut, i think everything should have a realistic cut (like windows and doors) but unfortunately they don't unless the element is a generic model. There was probably some reason for doing it.

"I didn't design the product I just use it ". Quoting Mr. Spot Same here! Just thought you might know! I agree it's not a big deal! We have to ask why they developed the product in such a manner in order to correct these little mistakes for the future. Maybe then we will have a finely tuned program! Thanks for replyinng Mr. Spot!

Safety can you show us a sample of a wall 5' high with the normal view range at 6' and a plan region that will show a poriton of a wall with the hatch within? I have tried this and do not see the plan region showing any hatches below 6'.

I just had this same problem it was in revit 2013. If you go under Visibility and Setting, then go to walls, then go to pattern overide under the cuts column and change it to clear all overides. It will show your cut pattern in plan. Hope this helps its actually a relatively easy solution. In revit your plan is automatically defaulted to show cut patterns as white you just have to change it.

Mr Spot's answer is better than having to do an over-ride.
